Athletes Falling from Grace

Athletes, Drugs, and Support

Without mentioning names, professional athletes have become synonymous to steroids, misconduct, misbehavior, and that has led to their fall from grace. Majority of the time, they violate the laws of the land and end up paying for them. This is seen in both on- and off-court environment. It happens because most of the professional athletes, are unaware of the spotlight, and find themselves in a new environment that is full of public expectations, personal responsibilities, and pressure. Hence, in working to meet up with these demands get lost in the process.

An educational initiative may just be what these athletes need to help them in their transition from one level of spectrum, to a new level of public expectations. The program will get the first year players (rookies) ready for the unexpected of the unknown, and save them from unfamiliar environment while channeling them to the right course. One of the focus areas may be human change. It comprises of behavior modification, association, attitude adjustments, human development, and ways of thinking. Most of these professional athletes need these services in order to stay on the right track and the right side of the law, and remain as role models, move on in life to help themselves and the society, and finally maintain the good name of their leagues.

These athletes work as independent contractors, and as such they would consider investing in these programs, such as this, in order to go along with their careers as they work with their agents, trainers, and securities. Most athletes are not interested in investing in programs such as this, which portrays attitude of "penny wise and pound foolish". Athletes set different priority for themselves. They tend to invest in their body building, which they think are vital to their career success, without knowing that one cannot substitute advice to physical fitness. They are complementary to one another for a successful career. There is no doubt that a smart investment by these athletes will save them a lot of heartaches, headaches, embarrassments, careers, and lots of money.

A successful business begins with a solid business plan, which includes accounting, financial, and law experts. It is surprising that most athletes do not follow this trend; rather they think that they are indestructible and immortal. A program with attitude adjustment and behavior modification will enhance the career of these athletes. This is prevalent in football, basketball, baseball, track and field, and it seems that there is no end in sight since every ball player wants to be ahead of others. Some are willing to do anything necessary (legal or illegal) to be on top without thinking about the consequences that come with it.

A team that comprise of professionals with expertise in Human behavior and association, change management, clinical psychology, accounting, and law in athlete management, will enhance the association, behavior, attitude, economic and financial situation of these professional athletes. The program will not target everybody, but for those athletes, who are unfortunate to come from less privileged environment, but because of their athletic abilities, were drafted into professional leagues, and only to find themselves in the spot light unusual and unfamiliar to them. Therefore, place themselves in a different environment, under pressure, and difficult to handle due to problems of association. Most of them do not realize that when they become professional athletes, that they have moved into a different plain field, and hence, have outgrown some of the original individual and group association, which get them in trouble today. Athletes are encouraged to help and give back to their communities, and at the same time know their boundaries of association.

A free program for rookies (the first year players) is available and there is usually no obligation to remain in the program if it is not found enriching and rewarding. The platform is designed for one-on-one coaching and mentoring, in both face-to-face and virtual environment. It is conducted at the athletes' convenience and places. The benefits of this program are tremendous. This program enhances athletes' behavior on and off court, contracts, endorsement, and the name of their respective leagues. President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt

This government of the people, for the people and by the people is not working for the people. President Mubarak needs to step down and have his vice president handle the transition to avoid unnecessary violence and further bloodshed. The idea of bringing pro Mubarak is a very bad strategy.

Thirty [30] years in office is enough if there is nothing productive to show to the country. Just a thought.

30,000 U.S. Troops to Afghanistan

I listened to General Stanley McChrystal speak this morning and as much as I feel his compassion for his soldiers I was sadden that he is yet to learn the Culture of the people for whom he has pledged to protect. General McChrystal stated four elements of his strategy but unconsciously forgot to mention the hidden cost of the 30,000 U.S. troops that are bound to Afghanistan. In his four elements, he listed (1) Clarity, (2) Capability, (3) Commitment and (4) Confidence. As in every business strategy, there is a down side or losses, and so my question is: of the 30,000 U.S. troops deployed, how many were estimated to be killed or will not come back to United States alive?

Afghanistan has one solution and that is to leave the country to the owners and work with other Islamic countries to resolve any conflicts there may be. The administration has not learned anything from the Russians. The country is bordered in the east by Pakistan and in the west by Iran and none of these countries seems to cooperate in the joint effort to stop the insurgency in Afghanistan rather they enhance and collaborate with the oppositions. They also feel threatened by U.S. presence in the neighboring country Afghanistan and because of that will like to see U.S. go away rather than cooperate in this joint effort since there is nothing [positive] there for them. Moreover, giving the timeline on how long the troops will stay in Afghanistan is not going to help rather it will fuel the other side to counter-strategize to win the war. One thing we seem to over look is the Islamic way of doing things. There is a holy war going on and how long are these soldiers going to protect the Afghanistan knowing full well that as soon as they leave the Taliban will take over the leadership of Afghanistan? It is either that the administration has not learn from the Russians or that it does not understand the Islamic culture or that it wants to play politics with this crisis.

The longer the war in Afghanistan, the more financial burden on the U.S., and the more the U.S. economy suffers and unemployment gets worse. I look for another deployment in 18 months and this time for a different reason – how U.S has almost finished the job but just needs few more Soldiers to do so.
